Why there are no exercises to lose belly fat
Why there are no exercises to lose belly fat

Unfortunately it isnt this simple. These ads have created the myth of spot reducing - the idea that there is a magic exercise to lose belly fat (strength exercise that is - not cardio). Spot reducing never has and never will work. The reason that almost everyone does not have a six pack is because they have a layer of fat covering their abs. Exercising the abs underneath the layer of fat will strengthen them, yes; but it will not make the fat go away. For this reason, there is no exercise that will make you lose belly fat.
The only way to lose belly fat on the midsection is through proper diet and exercise to lose fat from all over the body. Like I said above, there is no way to reduce fat from specifically one area on your body.
The first component is diet. A healthy diet to lose belly fat should consist of four to six nutritious meals spread evenly throughout the day. It is very important to make sure to get sufficient amounts of the major macronutrients - fats, carbs, and protein. Also, make sure to take a multivitamin in the morning, and drink plenty of water.
The second component is exercise. For maximum progress, you must exercise to lose belly fat both with cardio and resistance training. Cardio does not have to be running. Pick something enjoyable to you! The most important part is staying consistent, and it is much easier to stay consistent with an activity that is enjoyable. Resistance training also needs to be included. Resistance training will raise the metabolism for hours after finishing, and will increase lean muscle mass. Muscle takes additional calories to maintain, so the amount of calories you burn while at rest will increase.
