Weight Loss Tips Part Two
Weight Loss Tips Part Two
by Phillip E. Hart D.C.
Tip #1: Minimize
This tip is a generic one for minimizing intake of certain foods. These foods would include: meats, specifically red, dairy products and high glycemic index (GI) foods.
Meats are full of protein but also (in some cases) saturated fats. You can get your proteins from different sources and avoid the fat. Foul and fish are good meats to eat if meat is going to be a part of your diet.
Although dairy products are not considered meat they are from an animal source so, once again, the high saturated fat intake is present if you eat much dairy. As a matter of fact, there is more saturated fat in a serving of 2% milk than a serving of bacon (look on the package). If you are worried about calcium, you can get it in more effective forms than dairy.
The GI is an index comparing foods to sugar. If a foods GI is high then it is comparable to eating sugar. White bread is a food with a very high GI as well as a white potato. Of course, sugar/sweets are no-nos with a high GI. Eating these types of GI foods does not help weight loss but weight gain.
Tip #2: Maximize
Maximize your digestive system to its fullest. If your digestive system is working good then weight loss becomes much more easier. There are some simple strategies you can do to help your digestion to run smoothly.
For starters, chew your food up until it is a liquid. Digestion actually starts in the mouth, so chewing, chewing and chewing starts the whole process out right. Chewing food until it is a fine liquid allows the lower digestive process to work more effectively.
There can be food that actually gets into the blood stream undigested (referred to as leaky gut syndrome. Also, undigested food (usually animal protein) in the intestines leads to a bloated feeling and gas.
By chewing your food slowly and many times allows a longer eat time. The longer eat time is good because it allows your appetite to catch up with you feeling of being full. In other words, if you eat faster you probably will eat more because it takes your body time to feel full.
Tip #3: Do Not Overeat
This tip is easier said than done. To continue on the above tip about eating too fast and too much, overeating is a deathblow to losing weight. This statement might sound like a simple one but how many Americans overeat everyday and at most meals?
How can a person decrease overeating? It comes back to the dedication and commitment. A person just has to cut back on eating food. However, there are some tips for cutting back on eating too much.
As mentioned before, eat slower. Eat more but smaller meals. Only eat when you are hungry and do not allow yourself to get too hungry. If you are losing weight and you are hungry 1-2 hours after eating, that is a good sign. Your digestive system is working effectively!
The problem comes in when you want to get satiated for a long time leading to potential overeating. Ride this storm out and eat a small meal to stop the hunger. Believe it or not you could eat all day and not put weight on. It depends on what you eat and how you eat it.
