For overweight people, the low-calorie and low-fat diets recommended by the government do not perform very well in many cases. In fact, for diabetics, these diets might intensify the condition. The only diet that strikes at the real cause of obesity, high cholesterol, blood pressure, high hypoglycemia, and type II diabetes is a low-carbohydrate diet. In fact, a lot general practitioners and nutritionists are now starting to discover this.

It is a known fact that type II diabetes can often be controlled with diet and exercise.
