The Myth Of Spot Reduction
by Jared Izwar
The simple truth like it or not, is that if you really want to lose weight in an area that is bothering you, you have to lose overall weight which means all over your body. As you begin to drop weight your body will naturally shed itself of the unwanted pounds, and you will notice an overall weight loss effect including the areas that you want to target. All the products you see on TV that promise if you strap their belt around your abs in one month you will have a six pack are just playing on the hope that you are misinformed on the issue of spot reduction. Kick start your weight loss however you see fit but once the pounds start to melt off, you will start to see the fat around the area that you hate so much reduce.
Now along side of your weight loss you can do some weight training on the area that you would like to see improved. Do not confuse this with losing fat around this one area by itself, but in conjunction with weight loss if you do some weigh training you can slowly start to tone and firm the muscle while at the same time dropping the fat level which equals over all better aesthetic results for you and the people around you :) . So next time you see a product on TV with a tag line 'get rid of that pesky belly fat' you know just what to do and save yourself some extra money.
