Eat smaller portion servings at meal times through the day, and increase the number of meals. Large meals can cause cramping and diarrhea whereas smaller portions can relieve these symptoms. Low fat meals that are high in carbohydrates such as grain breads, pasta, rice, fruits, vegetable and cereals can also help to relieve irritable bowel syndrome symptoms. Pain experienced after meals can often be decrease, by eating a low-fat, high protein diet.
