Herbal studies can train you to become the family herbalist or a professional herbalist. Students who opt to become certified through herbal studies will gain knowledge on how to use herbs effectively in treating self and others both clinically and therapeutically, and how to use herbal remedies and formulas for common health issues.
Common herbal studies frequently involve the history of herbology, Chinese medicine theories and philosophy, herbal remedies and therapeutics, pharmacognosy, anatomy and physiology, pathology and disease, holistic nutrition, and other related subjects of study.
Students who have successfully completed all required herbal studies will have gained adequate knowledge and skills to make herbal medicines; how to plant and propagate herbs; how to identify plants and their uses; how to harvest and dry herbs, and how to use herbs in the manufacturing of essential oils and in aromatherapy.
