A Fibre Diet for IBS and IBD Sufferers

Fibre is either soluble or insoluble and each plays a role in our diets. With soluble fibre the fibre dissolves in water, whereas in insoluble fibre it doesnt. Insoluble fibre is rough in texture and it will pass through the intestine tract intact and increases bowel frequency, water content and looseness of the bowel motion. Insoluble fibre actually adds bulk to the stool and prevents faecal matter from building up in the colon, which reduces exposure to carcinogens. This also reduces the risk of colon cancer and keeps the bowel motions regular, creating an efficient waste system.
Insoluble fibre will trigger symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome .....
