AMAZING SMOOTHIES FOR OVERWEIGHT KIDS

Did you know that overweight kids often end up being overweight adults with major health problems?
And did you know that the current generation of children are NOT expected to live as long as us because so many of them are overweight?! That is astounding!
Overweight children have a greater chance of developing:
* Increased blood pressure, heart rate and cardiac output
* Type 2 Diabetes from too much sugar in their diets
* Orthopedic problems from the lower joints being under stress from carrying so much excess weight
* Skin disorders
* Psychological issues - low self esteem, poor self image and even depression.
Here are some more shocking facts:
* At least 155 million school-age children worldwide are overweight or obese, according to the latest estimates from the International Obesity Task Force.
* In the US, children who maintain a poor diet combined with the lack of exercise means that 25% of kids under 10 years of age have high cholesterol, high blood pressure or some other contributor to heart disease.
We need to give our kids the gift of lifelong healthy eating habits. A balanced diet of fresh, whole foods, direct from Mother Nature, is the only way to get the essential nutrition a child really needs.
However, were kidding ourselves if we think that our kids are going to willingly eat something that doesnt taste good - thats where Amazing Smoothies are the answer! The biggest challenge is finding a delicious alternative that is enough to satisfy a childs cravings for sweets. And smoothies are fantastically delicious and sweet!

I give my kids a fresh smoothie for breakfast followed by a healthy breakfast of cereal or toast depending on what they would like. On the weekends when they tend to eat more, I will make them up a smoothie for morning tea and afternoon tea instead of going to the cupboard for a biscuit or packet of chips! It fills them up in between meals and I know they are getting the required 5 a day fruit and vegetable portions.

A great Summer pleaser is: Pineapple and Watermelon blended with ice. It makes a thick, cool smoothie that tastes refreshing.
A delicious breakfast smoothie: 1 banana, teaspoon of honey, ice and lite milk in the blender is sweet and filling.
Another delight: 3 red apples, 2 mangos, 5 passionfruit and 150ml of apple juice. This tastes amazing!

I found over 200 delicious, amazing smoothies and my kids love all of them! My kids are much healthier and I am much happier knowing they are not going to be in the overweight category and will live long, healthy lives!
